Awesome photos in this series!
Try doing some shots after doing a white-balance on some green foliage (if you haven't tried that yet).

I do that but because there is not always the best light to white balance with I keep what I can get in the camera and work off that. I was thinking of going for it again today with the light that we have today. Its raining but I want to test and see what I can and can't do.

When I shoot these I top out at a 30 second shutter time. I shoot everything HDR now even if I don't use them I have them. It has a R72 list on it.

My C4040 could only do 15 sec. exposures max and, before my modification, I had to do all of my shots in FULL SUN or it would be too dark. With your R72 filter on my (now modified) C4040, I'd have hand-holdable s-speeds of around 1/60 - 1/120 sec. in daylight!
Your filter allows red to pass-through starting at 720nm wavelength. You should be able to see the filament of a lightbulb with your eye through that one. I got a x-nite that starts at 50% pass-through at 1000nm (true iR). You cannot see anything through it with the naked eye - not even a bright filament from a lightbulb!

...oh, and HDR... man, that's a wonderful thing! (time consuming, too)
