The Market Theater in Post Alley at Pike Place Public Market is a photographers dream. Bright colors , tons of textures, and interesting photo ops abound. You would think it's we're talking about the theater but the art is outside. Over the years a tradition has built up that people put their gum on the wall while waiting in line to enter the theater. It has become such a huge mural that the theater has given up cleaning the gum up and below are the results. It has exploded from simply people leaving their gum into a giant "gum art" exhibit that extends into the alleys.
White Balance - First I had to white balance because of the early morning light mixed with the fluoresent lighting.
Composition - Next the selecting of the composition (which I did several). I use a empty slide holder that I peek through to get an idea what the image will look like in camera.
HDR - In order to shoot this as a 3 image HDR I need to find the correct exposer. I take a test shot and view the histogram to see where my peaks are. I want to get everything in the middel of the histogram so I play with the exposure value (EV) adding +.5 and take another shot. Nope not right yet so I move up to a +1.0 EV and take another shot, this one is spot on. Now that I have the exposure I set the camera for bracket mode. 3 shots starting with the exposure I just set, +1.5 over that and -1.5 below it.
