Safe at Home by UrbanRural-Photo Safe at Home by UrbanRural-Photo
I past this everyday on my way home from work. I have been saying for a bit I would stop and take a shot of it. The reason why it took me so long to capture this is because this is someone's house. Nothing like snapping a few shots and turning to walk away when the big hands of a biker dude grabs you. LOL

Does this house ever have the full sun on it. As in behind you, the photographer and a bit angled tothe stairs that you do get nices shadows? That would actually look really awesome, because I really like the set-up of this picture.

This was an early moring shot and the sun was to my back. I am sure it does I just would fear of the owner coming out at that time.

Why would the owner mind if you took a picture? I mean, you're not revealing anything of the property. It's just the stairs and the mailbox. They can't really be against that. If you showed the whole house and said where it was, then okay, but with this there shouldn't be a problem.

They can be funny, but you are in the right. I think speaking to them openly should solve the problem, if they approached you. And with a digital cam, you can actually show them that you are not posting the whole house online. :)

True. This just opens the door for me to do more shots of peoples front steps. I feel a series coming on.

Hey Shelly, nice shot...this makes me think of the Wizard of Oz movie, same feeling, like if I walk up and through the greenery, there just might be an emerald forest on the other side....

If there was a way, I bet there is...you could mess with it and do the black and white at the entry up through the greenery and then color at the back like a Wizard of Oz effect. If it doesn't turn out....well durn....but if it does....WOW!LOL

I've passed by that one and thought the same thing. I don't think I'd like my shrubs to be to the point that I have to duck to get in, but it looks so darned cool!

I am thinking that they don't enter the house way. Enter from the drive way. But how do they get the mail.

Totally cool entrance to a house...very interesting.

I see they bring your mail to a box in your front lawn...they make us go to a giant mailbox at the front of our neighborhood to get our mail...lol

but anywho...really cool shot, great composition. Makes me want to see what's around the bend.

I told myself that I would stop being lazy and get out and shoot more. I just think how much better a photographer I would be if I did.

I like your work but it looks like you take you time to get it right. I am the same way but for a shot like this you have to know what you are going to do before you get there. I had the camera ready this time because I had been shooting that morning but from now on I will have my camera mounted on the tripod in the backseat before I leave work. This way if I see something I like I just have to pull over and get out. That has always been the one thing that kepted me from shooting something. The set up.
