Description

Just want to post this for some feedback from experienced astrophotographers. This was take in my backyard last night toward the southern sky, with in the city limits (I know I am not suppose to to this but I want to test). Any feed back good or back is much appreciated. Sweating a little...

well im not very experienced but have been studying and practicing quite a bit lately!

first off, yes..definitely not going to get what you want anywhere near the city. farther away the better..ive had good results with just 30-40 miles out on snoqualmie/stevens pass though. as far as your settings..they are pretty close to what you'd be shooting for. 30 seconds is a bit long so you got a little bit of movement in the stars. for your focal length of 18 and 1.5 crop sensor, you could get away with 22 seconds without movement..for super tack sharp stars ..18 seconds. if you attempt from the back yard again, would bump up to ISO 3200..that may make more stars appear but will more so let you get the exposure time you need..on the other hand, it'll increase the light pollution :/

a great study guide from Greg Gibbs here: astrophotography
